Dental implants

Dental implants are suitable for most healthy adults, but there are some lifestyle habits that can affect your adaptation, such as smoking, having gum problems or having radiation therapy around the jaw. Implants should not be placed dental care in children under 18 years of age, because the jaw is still being formed.

Before starting treatment with implant(s), you should always make an evaluation appointment with an implantologist to find out the real need for your case. An orthopantomography and an in-mouth assessment will be performed to ensure that implants are a viable solution. A clinical diagnosis is then carried out to ensure that the solution presented will be the most suitable for your particular home. 

There are cases where there is not enough bone in the jaw to fix the implant(s), which means that they will complementary supportive treatments such as a bone graft or a maxillary sinus lift may be needed. case sand verify that any of these procedures will be necessary, the entire treatment process will be explained to you.  

The implant placement process is usually carried out in two phases: first, the implant placement surgery is performed, where the implant itself is fixed to the bone and, later, after the osseointegration period (4 to 8 months), it is adjusted and the new tooth(s) are fixed to the implant(s). 

Normally, the entire process is performed in a dental clinic, under local anesthesia. In the case of patients who suffer from anxiety/nervousness with the procedure, it is usually proposed to take a sedative tablet that will help them relax.
