Zygomatic Implants

Not enough bone for the normal ALL ON 4 procedure?

Some patients lack bone density in the upper jaw to provide a secure base for normal-length dental implants. As a solution, we can proceed with the All-on-4 treatment with zygomatic dental implants, where the extra length of the implants achieves additional bone for better stability.

If you have been told that you have insufficient bone density for normal-length implants, we may still be able to regain your natural smile and full oral function in a single day using extra-long zygomatic dental implants.

How do zygomatic dental implants work?

As with the common All-on-4, fixed prostheses will only be supported by 4 implants, however the two rear implants are extra-long.

1. The two front dental implants are at an angle that allows the bridge to be supported by the bone in the front of the maxilla, which is denser and stronger.

2. The two posterior dental implants are extra-long and are surgically fixed in the “zygomatic” arch.

3. The dental bridge, manufactured and fitted by our dental technician, is designed to look, feel and function like natural, healthy teeth and gums.

The zygomatic dental implant procedure

The zygomatic dental implant procedure, developed by Professor Branemark & Nobel Biocare in Sweden, works by using the zygomatic to “anchor” the implants, to which dentures, bridges and replacement teeth can be attached.

Depending on the extent of bone deterioration, 2 to 4 zygomatic implants will be used to support 4 to 6 common implants. The bridge fixed on top of the implants will hold the replacement teeth.

Minimizing discomfort and anxiety, in our clinic we try to make your treatment as painless as possible and, to ensure your comfort throughout the zygomatic procedure, the treatment is performed under sedation.

Our anesthetists will ensure that any pain and discomfort is minimized during treatment.

No additional complex surgical procedures are required, such as more evasive interventions for bone graft placement, which can take up to six months to heal, and multiple procedures to have fully functional teeth.

The zygomatic dental implant procedure is performed in just one step – which includes placement of the implant and the fixed bridge. The procedure has an immediate impact on your ability to bite and chew, as well as your appearance.

The solution for the most serious cases

In many of the patients who have been without teeth for many years, the loss of jaw bone is very serious and requires the use of alternatives, however zygomatic implants are not always the solution, namely for anatomical reasons.

The ImplanTIZE (custom implants) is a structure created in titanium from a computerized design, based on a tomography and anatomical study of the patient. Based on this information, the structure is created (a process called sintering) and subjected to tests to ensure its strength and durability. It is fully biocompatible and is used in very serious cases where other implants cannot be used or in cases where the use of conventional implants has failed.

We have a team of professionals who, in addition to being experienced, are highly trained in solving the most complex cases.
